Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus (KCs) are an international organization and the principle men’s organization at St. Margaret Mary. The Knights are a fraternal organization dedicated to charity, unity and fraternity. These men do many church, community, pro-life, family and youth oriented activities throughout the year. Among the many activities, the council sponsors an on-going aluminum recycling program, a monthly breakfast, a Mardi Gras and Oktoberfest social event and an annual garage sale to raise funds. The Knights help the clergy with the Lenten Stations of the Cross and they also lead the Rosary before every Mass. The parish always looks forward to the delicious Fish Fry offered on Fridays during Lent. For many years they have also sponsored an annual “Giving Tree” to help support the Leander Head Start Program at Christmas and they can be counted on to provide manpower for all parish events.
The Knights of Columbus and the Guadalupano Ministry will lead the Rosary before each weekend Mass. Make every effort to arrive at least 30 minutes early before Mass to join us in this special devotion. We can pray together to ask for Our Lady’s intercession for peace in our communities.
The September issue of the Chaplain’s Report includes a brief summary of Supreme Knight Carl Anderson’s presentation in Toronto, emphasizing that Catholics must remain positive in attitude and practice. One positive practice that Knights of Columbus families should turn to, he said, is the Building the Domestic Church initiative.
The initiative offers a host of resources to enhance the spiritual, moral and charitable lives of families, parishes and councils. These resources include The Consecration to the Holy Family and Bishop Thomas Olmsted’s Into the Breach, which has been reprinted by the Supreme Council with a new study guide.
For more information, please read the Council's latest newsletter or see the advertisement on the back of the weekly bulletin. The KCs are always actively recruiting new members, please call Robert to learn more about this steadfast parish organization.
