You Are Welcome!
The Right of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) has had a name change to The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). While the rites remain the same in OCIA as they were in RCIA, the use of the word "Order" emphasizes the continual development candidates and catechumens go through in the faith formation process.

Christian initiation is accomplished by Catholic formation and the reception of the three sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. It is designed for adults who after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and enter the way of faith and conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts. There are several steps to the initiation process:
First period is Inquiry (exploration and discernment with the support of family of the faith) and is completed with the celebration of the Rite of Acceptance into the Order of the Catechumenate.
Second period is the Catechumenate and begins with instruction, in the Catholic faith (basic catechesis, scripture prayer, etc.) and is completed with the Rite of Election and the Penitential Rite.
Third period is a time for enlightenment and purification (more discernment and scutinies and the celebration of the sacraments of initiation.
Fourth period extends through the whole of Easter season and is a time of deepening the Christian experience and for spiritual growth.
Everyone is welcome to participate - adults wishing to become members of our faith as well as those who are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith.
Come and see!
Feel free to stop by most Tuesdays to join us at the OCIA session starting at 7PM in the Benish Center.
