In biblical usage the management of whatever a person is entrusted with, not only to preserve but profitably administer for his master, ultimately for God. Christ proposed the faithful steward as model for the responsible Christian (Luke 12:42). The Apostles are chosen stewards of the divine mysteries (I Corinthians 4:1-2), and every Christian is a steward of the mysteries of God (I Peter 4:10). Jesus praised the unjust steward of the parable, not because he was dishonest but because of his foresight, since "the children of this world are more astute in dealing with their own kind than are the children of light" (Luke 16:1-8). This is the ultimate lesson of stewardship: that a human being is not owner but only custodian of God's gifts in this world, to use them and produce with them the fruits of eternal life. (Etym. Old English stigweard, "keeper of the hall": stig, hall + weard, keeper.)
What kind of member are you?
What kind of member are you?
Are you an active member, the kind that would be missed?
Or are you just content that your name is on the list?
Do you attend the meeting and mingle with the “flock”,
Or do you stay at home and criticize and knock?
Do you take an active part to help the work along?
Or are you satisfied to be the kind who just belongs?
Do you serve on ministries to see there is no trick?
Do you leave the work to a few and gripe about the clique?
So come join a Ministry, and sign up with all your heart,
Don’t just be a member, but take an active part.
Think this over, my friend…you know right from wrong,
Are you an active member, or do you just belong?
Time and Talent
Each of us has been given unique gifts and talents from God. God calls us to develop and use those gifts to help others. Our parish is blessed to have over 50 ministries that offer fantastic volunteer opportunities! Please feel free to contact the respective ministry leader for more information about the time commitment you'll be asked to make or the types of projects that the ministry is responsible for. A Ministry Contact list can be found here.
Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who have already signed up to serve in the various parish ministries. If you have not signed up, it's not too late! Please see the ministry contact list above and contact a ministry leader directly for more information. You may also send an email to Chuck Ramos.
If you are interested in serving on the Stewardship Committee, please contact Deacon Dave via email.
